Campground Tips:
- be extra sure that all fire starting materials and matches are extinguished before leaving your winter camp. Break matches in half
- Build no fires except in designated firepits – no matter how cold the Manitoba Canada winter is. Or use a camp stove – such as a Coleman camp stove. Before leaving your ice fishing hut make sure any fires in your fishing or tenting area are completly out
- Be careful with with cigarettes ,cigars and pipe ashes. Crush them thoroughly before discarding. Jadran Transcona , Lake Manitoba Senior Outfitter notes – never be lazy and toss them from your vehicle
- Even in the winter ice fishing season take care not to litter
- Be sensitive to wildlife. The Lake Manitoba Narrows area remains a pristine fisherman and ice fisherman’s delight. Bears can be dangerous and should never be fed. Food must be stored away from your campsite as well as Ice Fishing Hut or huts. A locked vehicle or van is the best. Avoid attracting hungy animals. Do not store food in your ice fishing hut or ice fishing huts.
- Warm clothing is needed always in the Lake Manitoba regions in the wintertime . Overpack warm winter clothng and winter time boots rather than underpack
